I would support A-Net also, going to my local Fry's Electronics to pick it up. Hopefully there is a CE for this game.

Has anyone preorder from Amazon.com before?

*will the game deliver to us a day earily (before actual game release)?
*how we're able to play the beta on the 24th of March?
*do they sent us the access key? or hard copy?

existing account = auto access to March event.

the delivery info will souly be determined by the retailer and cannot always be controlled by the game company. (delays can happen, I suggest email amazon on how they are going to handle this. of course be specific. it seems like there is a mix up between what is the preorder package and full game atm.)

If you are unsure of other info about factions, check here for specific info:

The EB I went to said they don't have the preorder package in yet, but they'd give me a call when it got in.

I'm confused as hell!!!

So, in a few words, the pre-order package IS the complete game, right? But you just are supposed to get it earlier and get a few extras, true?

Sorry, I feel like a complete noob, and I know this has been answered in this same forum, but with some of these comments I just got lost in an unknown breach.

Rodrigo, what happens with pre-orders is this:

You order the game.
The retailer gives you a receipt and (usually) a box.
The box does not contain the game but the "pre-order" stuff.
When the game is released you go in and pick up your copy of it.

You can pay in full, or in part for the game. If you choose to pay in part you have to pay the balance when you pick up the game.

The pre-order package is FREE, and you should not be charged anything more than what the shop will sell the game for when it arrives on the shelves in April.

Oh! Thanks, that cleared many doubts for me.

BTW, Anyone has preordered something for international shipping?

If so, how do they handle the shipments (for the preorder package AND then, the game)?

If you have, or you know about this matter, please send me a PM.

Thanks.

EDIT: Ok, found this on the EBGames Help page, hope it helps for anyone interested:

Pre-Order - This product has not yet been released. Pre-Ordering a product is the best way to ensure that you'll get a copy of a hot title. As we receive products from the vendors, the customers who pre-ordered get their copies shipped first. See the "Shipping" section for shipping methods and delivery times.

From all the threads I've read, no one has actually gotten their hands on a real pre-order package yet and the only straight answers we've gotten from any retailer is that they haven't gotten them yet. But for the most part, they seem as confused and the rest of us. What I find interesting is that no one from ANet has addressed this on the forums. At least not that I've seen. I'll see Gaile or someone from ANet (but mostly Gaile) chime in almost everytime there's serious questions about the game. But so far, the silence is from ANet is disturbing.

I'm not bashing ANet or any of their employees. I've more than gotten my money's worth from the game, but their handling of the pre-order has been pretty disasterous. I have high expectations of ANet because of my positive experiences with GW. I would've expected better from them than what I've seen here.

I also asked about the serious lag we've been having lately as well, but nothing about that either And no response as of yet. Maybe they haven't gotten in yet

My follow up support e-mail also got kicked to accounts. Then, after 2 days, they finally got back this morning to say the generic: the offical released public info is on the site.... we can't say any more right now.

All right, I'll post all this information here in this thread as well. Again, not sure why this isn't on the official site. It was buried in a thread over on GWO from Gaile Gray but answers some of the questions. Along with my own speculation at the bottom on how another game recently released handled this:

This was posted on 2/11/06, so before the Feb. 28th release. Farther down still relates to it though answering questions such as how do I get early access, etc. From Gaile Gray:

Gaile Gray: I'll just reiterate the preorder process, and this will be for North America, because the European Preorder Package will be out after the FPE, as I understand it. Here are some suggestions:
  • No matter when and where you preorder, get a receipt. It's that simple. Some stores track, some don't. The only proof that you have put down money on the game is by holding onto that receipt.

  • Before preorder packages are offered, most retailers accept "preorders" without any deposit. If that's the case for you, I'd suggest you go to the store around the 28th, when the preorder package comes out, and ask to place a deposit on your existing preorder and get a copy of the package.

  • If you have preordered already with a deposit, I would contact the store from which you preordered and tell them that you're aware that Guild Wars Factions will be having a preorder package on Feb 28th, and ask how you get a copy. You are entitled to the copy, in my opinion, and it costs the store nothing to give it to you. (Some store clerks may not be aware, our publisher, NCsoft, covers the entire copy of the preorder and the store loses nothing by giving you the copy to which you are entitled through an earlier preorder.)

  • When the game comes out, if you've made a deposit, the amount of the deposit is applied to the purchase. If the game is $49.99, and you have paid $10.00, then you have a balance due of $39.99. If the game is on sale -- not likely at release, of course -- I believe you'd pay whatever the sale price is, minus the deposit.

  • There will be an early access period for Guild Wars Factions. It will run 48 hours, but please note what that means: All players with a preorder copy and the special access key will be given a 24-hour head start on the game. They will then be able to play for up to 48 hours before they need to enter their retail access key in order to continue playing. That may sound confusing: 24 hours, huh? 48 hours, wha? What that means is, you don't have to rush out and get the game during your 24-hour early access period, you see? Go forth and play that day, knowing you have the next day -- release day -- to pick up your copy or to receive it from your shipper, if you ordered online. Upon getting the retail box, enter the retail access key, and you're set to go.

  • If you find that a store is hesitant to handle this fairly, please politely ask to speak to a manager and explain the situation, that you chose his/her store to make the preorder, that you've placed a deposit in good faith, and that you'd be very grateful if they would give you a copy of the preorder. We cannot intercede, and we cannot provide preorder copies (with regrets) but if there were miscommunication issues, we would want to know about them and work with our retailers to assure that all goes smoothly.

  • For Europe, we will have other, online means of preordering in order to assure access to the FPE. We'll have details on that very soon. But don't worry, Europeans will be able to participate in the FPE and the early access with their preorders!

This is from me: DDO just recently came out and you could pre-order it as well and play before the game went retail. The way they did this was to allow you to download the game client online (which we know you can do all ready from GuildWars.com) then they sent you a serial key number through email. When you received the box later on (release day) you got all the goodies. I imagine that Guild Wars is doing a similar thing. So it doesn't matter if you don't have the box or items in hand before the release date. They'll most likely send you the key and your friend's key that's included through email and then you go later to the store you ordered from (or wait for the delivery) to get your retail box.

Well...that's all well and good, but there are no pre-order retail packages that I've been able to find. So either no packaging was shipped, or the entire state of Arizona didn't get it.
